VISUAL ART - Paintings

For years I only painted on paper; textured paper, heavy watercolour paper, tracing paper, rice paper, all sorts of paper using the mediums of gouache, watercolour, inks, and acrylics.
The idea of painting on canvas for some reason seemed 'foreign.'
Why? I have no idea but since beginning to work on canvas (around the year 2000) I have taken advantage of its durable qualities by using exacto knives to scrape paint down to the surface, to mark and incise, to draw and gesture. I can get lost in painting for days working on perhaps three different pieces at once. Sometimes I pour the paint, sometimes I talk to the painting & even apologize when the process requires I remove or paint over a section I love. Each painting has a life!  Paul Klee was my favourite painter for years and years. I still love Klee but there are so many brilliant artists it's hard to have one favourite.
